About Us
- Living Water is more than taking a drink. It's more than eating. It's more than breathing. It's more than seeing. It's believing that Jesus Christ can make a difference in a life. We reach out. We come alongside prisoners to help them make like-changing choices for a better life in Christ.
-
It all started back in 1988 when Carl M. Gunn followed his passion for reaching the lost in prison and leading them to faith in Christ. At the age of 92, Carl gave his blessing for Jim Bright to continue the Living Water Prison Ministry. Carl's legacy of being a disciple to others lives on. His friend writes, “I believe my old pal Carl Gunn would be delighted with what you folks are doing. Ken P.S. I am doing fine for a 90-year-old.”
- Faith Based Initiatives have a higher success rate of preventing recidivism than other programs. Through the years, LWPM volunteers have personally seen a life-changing transformation of inmates who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. There is a sense of freedom in Christ, even inside the walls. One inmate commented, "this facility could be aptly called 'Correctional Church'."
Mission and Vision
Living Water Prison Ministry Network's mission is to offer life-changing help to prisoners transitioning to becoming godly productive members of society through Christian volunteers.
Living Water Prison Ministry Network's vision is to stop the cycle of crime and to be a vital witness for the gospel to our communities. This ministry encourages and equips Christian volunteers to model and instruct God's principles for living.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
LWMN affirms its uncompromising loyalty to the inspired Word of God. The following sets forth a general summary of what we believe.
- WE BELIEVE that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God and are without error as originally written, and they are the only infallible rule of faith and practice for the Christian.
- WE BELIEVE in one god, eternally existing in three persons. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and we believe that these three are co-existent and of equal dignity and power.
- WE BELIEVE in the deity of Jesus Christ; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His sinless, perfect life; His vicarious and substitutionary death through the shedding of His blood on the cross of Calvary; His bodily resurrection. His ascension to the right hand of the Father; His present ministry as High Priest and Advocate; and His personal and imminent return "Our Blessed Hope" and we believe that all things shall finally be subjected to God through Him.
- WE BELIEVE that man was created by and for God; that by disobeying God, he became a sinner and thereby incurred spiritual death which is separation from God, and physical death as a consequence; and that all the human race are born in sin and are sinners by nature and practice.
- WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, as a vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
- WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the Christian.
- WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
- WE BELIEVE that the Church is the Body of Christ being formed by the work of the Holy Spirit of all those who trust Christ as their Savior.
- WE BELIEVE in view of Christ's teaching that it is our mission to preach the Gospel to the whole world.
